"First there were two and now………………..
Seven go to Cairo!!"

In her travel books, adventure cyclist Anne Mustoe talks about the pleasure
of friends joining her at various stages of her world tours, to bring out
supplies and news from home.
 |
In this spirit, I was delighted when my friend
Pat decided she would join me in Cairo where I intend to have a rest and
recuperation week. We agreed she would bring out with her my maps for the
next stages of my trip, and we would sit and sip red wine, chatting away
the small hours under the shadow of the Pyramids. |
| It was at this point that our plans for a quiet
rest were put in some danger as news spread. A phone call from Pam was
quickly followed by another flight booked; another hotel room reserved. |
 |
 |
Julie soon got wind of what was happening, and
having previously turned down the suggestion of a trip to Egypt as being
"all culture", now found the plan enticing. Another call to Dial-a-Flight…. |
| Pat then rang me to say that her lifelong friend
Lillian would absolutely love to join us all. "But she doesn’t even
know me…." No matter, it seems. At this point, Spike from Dial-a-Flight
was considering moving up the housing market. |

 |
We let Julie off the leash for a meal with two
of her friends and work colleagues, Mary and Jackie. I received a very
sheepish phone call from her the next morning. "Any chance of another
two coming to Cairo? You wouldn’t mind?"
|
| Of course not, but they’ll
never get the flights. "No problem with that, they’ve booked
themselves on this morning…"
Spike was last seen driving away from the Dial-a-Flight office
in a new Mercedes…

Before I left for my trip, we went for a
"get to know each other" meal together, where it was confirmed
that the week in Egypt will be anything but a quiet week of rest
and recuperation….
Next stop, Cairo!!!

| And to prove that
we made it in one piece, here's the photographic evidence !
